Just read this news article on somebody in dubai winning some gold. Started to think what would i do if i won something substantial. I had a conversation with my mom regarding our luck on winning huge sums of money, a pure statistical impossibility i said. I have a great belief that nothing in life is free and stuff you think is free, you have either earned it or you will have to pay it back at a later date with interest. However, since this is a blog, and i get to dream about stuff that never happens in real life, I decided to go ahead and make a list of the things i would do if i won a substantial amount of money.

The money , of course, would be divided into three groups. One would be re-invested in names of family members ( one in name of two parents, one in the name of my sister's family, i.e. not to my sister but maybe her children or grandchildren on the condition that she approves.,)

The second part of the money would go for a foundation/trust/charity that would give free food/clothing/shelter to the deserving individuals in scientific/artistic endeavors. This segment is short term help only and the given as a stop gap solution so that people can take advantage of the third part of my money.

The third part of the money, which i am hoping to do even if i don't get a winning lottery ticket but am lucky in career prospect, goes to finance initial capital for low cost/ high volume products and services that benefit the population of the world. Present day examples of such endeavors would be the Grumman bank of Bangladesh and research grants for low cost medicines. An emphasis on information flow and accountability is absolutely necessary.

That said, what about me! I will be more than satisfied if i am able to do these three things with free money i get. As for the money i earn, i got the eye for the private island in Bahamas.
