The Business Section of Gulf News

I have been following up more on the news reporting styles of UAE newspapers ever since i started reading secretdubai.blogspot.com . Over the past few months, I came to like Business section of the Gulf News. It is one of the better business news services of the middle east (In English atleast), and i make a point to read it. More important than the general news is the daily news/analysis articles of Financial Times of London and Economist Magazine. It is nice to imagine that public in dubai are reading such noteworthy newspapers/magazines. Especially since the number of regular book readers in united arab emirates are so few.

However, today's Headline was too much to bear. It is an expert advise that the year 2006 "stock market" will correct itself. Half of the blame goes to the middle east analysts. Most of them are unknown to the general public and any "expert" is subject to the paper or the company he or she works for. The second part is having analysis as part of the news reporting section of the paper. When you look at the headlines, you expect news not analysis except when analysis is done by a newsmaker.
